Frankeinstein

UE5 Panorama Animation Production, 2024

We're developing a 3D animation tailored for the panoramic screen and 3D stereo glasses using the 270-degree screen in Cavern.

Our story draws inspiration from an excerpt from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Unlike the traditional approach, we presented the story from the monster’s perspective.

Scene Overview

Research and Early Concept Art

During the initial phase, the team gathered references to the environment, props, and characters, all inspired by the context of Frankenstein. I designed the lab environment layout and created the floor plan, established shots, and asset scale diagram.

Progress

We consistently tested our progress in the Cavern. The progress could be roughly divided into four stages: Storyboard, Greybox Modeling, Lighting and Texturing and Post Processing.

Assets

The Main Tank

The main tank is the hero asset in the interior environment, located at the center of the light well tower. This is the focal point where the monster is brought to life. I textured the tank in a Steampunk style.

Other Props

I also created several other assets for the scene, including jars containing various monster body parts, a heater, a Tesla coil that releases the electricity to awaken the monster, and a board with hanging saws.
